“The Thames”, 2015, MacBook Pro + Corel Painter 2015 + Wacom Intuos Pro M

This painting was created as part of a teaching demonstration during my monthly online webinar, PainterLab, for PaintboxTV members. Each month I choose an artist who celebrates a birthday that same month and do a demo inspired by their art. This month (July) I chose James Abbott McNeill Whistler.

My source image: a photograph I took of the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament as I crossed the Hungerford Bridge on the west facing Queen’s Jubilee footbridge between the Embankment tube station and the South Bank.

My artistic inspiration: James Abbott McNeill Whistler’s Nocturne: Blue and Silver – Cremorne Lights, 1872 (coincidentally painted in the same year as Claude Monet’s Impression:Sunrise)

Absolutely wonderful! A little bit of Turner as well as Whistler.
