Four Paint Programs Compared

Posted by on Nov 5, 1993 in Art & Technology, GALLERY | One Comment

This article, in which I compare four early paint programs by painting a portrait of a master artist with each program, was published in the National Association of Desktop Publishers Journal in 1993 at a time when desktop publishing and digital painting were both relatively new. The softwares reviewed (and artists painted) were Adobe Photoshop 2.5 (Salvador Dali), Aldus SuperPaint 3.5 (Frida Kahlo), MicroFrontier/Timeworks Paint-It! (Andy Warhol) and Fractal Design Painter X2 (Pablo Picasso).
